Dancing Joy OFFICIAL Trailer

Dancing Joy is a celebration of humanity through dance set to Beethoven's final symphony.

Why this music?

Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the Choral,  is a miraculous work.  Profoundly deaf by the time he wrote the symphony, Beethoven created music so beautiful that it is played and loved throughout the world.  He stretched the structure of a symphony, including human voices singing lyrics inspired by Friedrich Schiller’s “Ode to Joy.” He fearlessly proclaimed humanity to be brothers under a loving divine creator, meant to live in joy.

Beethoven created an uplifting message that continues to give hope, two centuries later.

The dancers include artists from all over the world, and many dance traditions:

Nepal, Korea, Fiji, Indonesia, Greece, Honduras, India, Botswana, Bulgaria, Rwanda, Native American, Hawaii, Ireland, Scotland, Appalachia, Spain, Caribbean, Japan and the traditions of Ballet, Ballroom, and American Sign Language,
