Family Dancing

The other day was my birthday, and as is our family tradition, it ended with dancing. This is something I've loved since I was a kid. Parents, kids, brothers, sisters, or random strangers that happen to walk in the door...dancing.

Family dance is one of the most joyful things in any culture. I've seen it at Mexican weddings, at Japanese festivals, in U.S. block parties, at the Dead Sea in Israel. It's folks of all ages, just...dancing.

There is a magic to dancing together. Somehow, dancing brings connection. It chases away the blues--and it multiplies the joys.

Dancing in the grocery store, anyone? (I do it all the time.) Dancing in your car? (It turns a traffic jam into a JAM!) Dancing as you do some job? (Painting a room, cleaning the house--much more fun while dancing!)

Even the littlest toddlers will bounce and rock to a good beat. It's a basic human instinct...to match muscular movement to the tempo and sound we hear.

So, if you want to have a really good day, take your "to do" list, and turn on some music, and dance your way through your day. Enjoy!
